Wood as the basis for circular architecture

Prof. Tom Kaden

Tom Kaden is considered a pioneer of multi-story timber construction in Germany. With projects such as e_3 in Berlin, he has demonstrated that timber construction is not only ecologically necessary, but also technically and architecturally sustainable.

His firm, Kaden⁺, sees timber construction in cities as the answer to the climate imperative and consistently relies on this renewable raw material in the primary structures of residential, educational, and commercial buildings. In doing so, he is making a significant contribution to reducing gray energy and transforming building culture.

In addition to numerous awards, Kaden, as professor of architecture and timber construction at Graz University of Technology and as a member of the Federal Foundation for Building Culture, shapes the discourse on sustainable construction far beyond his own projects.
